The 8th International Workshop on Massively Multiuser Virtual Environments

MMVE 2016 Klagenfurt, Austria

at the May 10-13, 2016 Klagenfurt am Wörthersee, Austria

Welcome!

The 8th International Workshop on Massively Multiuser Virtual Environments provides a forum for researchers and practitioners in the field, and will encourage discussions based on the presented papers to identify current and future research topics. The workshop is interested in raising discussions about the following questions: (1) How is MMVE technology developed for games reused for distributed virtual environments in other domains, such as training?, (2) How do the life-cycles and payment models of games integrated into social networking systems (Facebook etc.) influence game development?, and (3) How can MMVE technology leverage parallel computing technology, including multicore (Cell, GPU), tight clustering (transactional memory, distributed shared memory) and distributed systems (P2P, Clouds)?

As an intended focal point of discussion, for this edition we particularly solicit contributions related to the various challenges that recent advances in virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) pose to MMVE systems and architectures.

Topics

Designing, developing, and deploying Massively Multiuser Virtual Environment (MMVE) systems is highly interdisciplinary and involves research and experts from many domains of computer science, e.g., graphics, networking, protocol and architecture design, but also other fields such as the social sciences.

The workshop addresses the following MMVE topics:

Submission

We solicit full-size papers (6 pages), as well as extended abstracts for posters (2 pages), covering one of the above or closely related topics. All submissions must be blinded and constitute original, unpublished work not under review elsewhere. Submissions will undergo a double-blind peer review process and will be selected based on their originality, merit and relevance to the workshop. Accepted papers must be presented by one of the authors at the workshop and will be indexed by ACM and included as part of the ACM MMSys 2016 proceedings.

To prepare your paper for submission, please use the . The submission process itself is handled online via our electronic submission system.
